The Levitate Institute

The Levitate Institute is where our values meet community need—offering capacity, support, and solutions to organizations and communities that need them most.

The Levitate Institute is the nonprofit arm of Levitate Legal & Consulting, created to extend our impact and serve communities and organizations that share our values but may not have the resources to fully engage our services. The Institute is in the process of becoming a tax-exempt organization, which will allow us to expand our reach and respond to urgent community needs with greater flexibility and collaboration. It will also create a pathway for corporate and philanthropic partners to support our efforts—providing the capacity, expertise, and thought-partnership needed to strengthen the communities we serve.

Our Purpose

At Levitate, we believe that every community deserves the tools, strategies, and support necessary to thrive. The Levitate Institute exists to ensure that local governments, nonprofits, and grassroots organizations—especially those navigating limited resources and funding challenges—can still access the expertise they need to sustain essential programs and strengthen leadership for the future.

What We Do

The Institute’s work is centered on building stronger organizations, amplifying community voices, and creating pathways for opportunity. Our activities include:

Technical Assistance and Training

Hosting workshops and trainings that equip nonprofits and grassroots organizations with the skills and resources they need to improve governance, strengthen capacity, and build long-term sustainability.

Community Dialogue and Engagement

Facilitating town halls and forums—both virtual and in person—that bring together residents, community organizations, and local leaders to ensure strategies reflect the voices of those most impacted.

Consulting and Ecosystem Building

Providing consulting services and discounted support for rural local governments and nonprofits, helping them improve systems and deliver services more effectively.

Strategic Support for Grassroots Initiatives

Serving as a fiscal sponsor and administrative partner to local governments and grassroots organizations, enabling them to access funding, scale their impact, and operate effectively without needing full nonprofit infrastructure.

Policy Research and Analysis

Producing research and analysis on systemic issues that affect communities, in partnership with research collaborators and advocacy networks. This work provides practical, data-driven insights to guide programs and inform public policy.
