What Are BUILD Grants?
The Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) program supports projects that rebuild infrastructure in ways that promote safety, sustainability, and equitable access. This year’s grants, made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will fund 109 projects across the country.
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg emphasized the importance of these investments: “We’re setting in motion over 100 projects that will make roads safer, help mitigate the impact of climate change, and ensure that people in communities of all sizes can get where they need to go safely and efficiently.”
Highlights of Funded Projects
This year’s grants include funding for projects that address critical infrastructure needs:
- Flagstaff, Arizona: $19 million to improve safety and multimodal accessibility along Butler Avenue.
- Olean, New York: $25 million for a complete street transformation along a 2.5-mile stretch of West State Street.
- Port of Benton, Washington: $9.5 million to repair and replace the White Bluffs Southern Connection Rail Line.
